Become the hostess (host) with the mostess (most)!

Now that you’re living in a fabulous city, one thing is in inevitable – your old cronies will want to pay a visit. And since you’re now a snazzy professional, you’ll need to step up your hosting skills a bit. So make a little checklist before the friend(s) arrive. But beware: don’t let things get TOO comfortable – otherwise word will get out and you’ll morph into the host who hosts too much.

Before your guests arrive, give your place a thorough cleaning.

Tidy up: Before they arrive, give your place a thorough cleaning. Sweep, vacuum and dust (yes, dust!) your kitchen and living spaces. Throw out the plethora of takeout boxes in the fridge. Prep a fresh set of sheets. And don’t forget about the bathroom – a little scrubbing in there isn’t going to kill you.

Concierge: Roll out the red carpet in the bathroom and impress your guests with some pampering bath products. They will totally appreciate it because chances are they’ve forgotten something. Before they arrive, hit up your favorite store and pick up awesome smelling travel sized products. Arrange a small tray with shampoo, body gel, toothpaste, tissues, lotion and Q-tips and cotton balls. Then leave the goodies out in the bathroom, as well as some fresh towels and extra toilet paper. When your peeps arrive, make sure they know that this is theirs to use.

Wine & dine ‘em: Since your fantastic amigos have traveled all this way to see your lovely mug, give them a break by treating them to a dinner at your new favorite restaurant or better yet, get it to go and enjoy it at home. Grab a few bottles of wine, kick back and reminisce about past treachery.

See the sights: Have an idea of things to do while they’re in town. Look around the city for fun events that may be going on and have some places in mind that you can visit to show your guests around. No one wants to have that “I don’t know. What do YOU want to do?” conversation. And don’t forget some downtime too.
