Inexpensive and Easy-To-Make Holiday Gifts

It never fails. No matter how much planning and in-advance shopping you do, the holidays tick closer and you realize you’re short on gifts. But if the thought of finding more presents sends shivers down your spine, fret not. We have some easy to assemble gifts, for guys and gals, that won’t require a lot of shopping or break the bank. More importantly, your recipients will love them because they’re unique and made just for them!

Vinyl Album Clock
Only a few elements are required to make the coolest gift on our list, a custom vinyl album wall clock. Seriously, these easy to assemble clocks are always a hit. Mega-bonus points if you make it with an album from your recipient’s favorite music artist.

Photo Tile
Here’s another highly customizable idea perfect for moms, girlfriends and depending on what you choose, even the fellas. Purchase a rough surfaced tile and mod podge a piece of scrapbook paper on top. Once it is dry, mod podge a favorite photograph, using the first layer as your “frame.” Gift the tile with a small stand for display. You can also use a similar technique to make custom coasters.

Relaxation Set

Roll up a bathrobe (like our RELAX robe!), bundle it with a magazine, scented lotion and voila – useful, thoughtful gift! You can also swap a few items for your favorite gym rat, just substitute a nice gym towel, fitness magazine and a water bottle and/or snacks. The example shown here uses a beach towel and sunscreen, but you could totally modify it any which way you’d like.

Cufflinks
Lego Cufflinks, Guitar Pick Cufflinks. Really, these are so awesome and easy to make that we don’t have anything else to add.

Cowgirl Cookies

Ladies, Bakerella suggests an adorable homemade gift idea for your girlfriends – Cowgirl Cookies! This is a great gift for your favorite sweet tooth friends. It’s also a great choice if you have several gifts to make. All you have to do is assemble the ingredients, drop it into jars and top it with a little fabric. Bakerella even provides well designed .pdf labels for you to print and use!

Playdoh
For kids and kids-at-heart, here’s a recipe to create your own homemade playdoh. Yes, you can make playdoh at home and it only requires a handful of ingredients, most of which you probably already have on hand. Make a batch and package it in reusable plastic containers. Awesome, right? Seriously, who could resist having a little fun with squishy, colorful playdoh?

Monogram Letter Wine Cork
A monogram wine cork doubles as both a piece of art and handy message board. It’s a great gift for wine lovers or anyone who would appreciate a cool piece of custom art. To make, simply purchase a thin wood letter from the craft store, cut wine corks to fit, arrange and hot glue to secure in place. Attach a bracket to the back for display.

Last, but certainly not least, we found some fun and somewhat snarky gift tags for all your handmade, holiday gift-giving! Download, print and attach to all of your homemade gifts this year for an extra bit of personalized fun!
