Festive Centerpieces

Whether you’re hosting or helping out with a holiday celebration, decorating can be an extra chore in busy times. The food, gifts, drinks (obviously, the most important) and all the other little pieces that tend to take most of our time and attention.

To help, here’s our favorite super simple and festive centerpiece idea that will make your table POP!

The idea focuses on wine glasses filled with small ornaments, tinsel or garland. Or mix all three.

Best part of all of this? You can use materials you already have at home.

For this setting, we used traditional holiday colors mixed in with a few metallics. We love the sparkles and the glitter of the season, so we tried to incorporate as much as that as possible.

You can easily modify this with whatever you have on hand or by picking up items in your color scheme.

Before you gather items or purchase anything, determine which direction you’d like to go. Would you like a tablescape exclusively with ornaments? Then don’t worry about gathering up tinsel and garland. And visa versa. For our setting, we used a mixture of ornaments and garland. You can certainly do that, too.

Here’s what you need (any color):
Tinsel, garland and/or small ornaments
Wine glasses
Table cloth
Table runner

Quantities will depend on the size of your table, so be sure to map out a plan before you start to decorate.

Lay out your table cloth and place your table runner down the middle (as you would before any fancy party, of course #pinkiesup).

Fill each glass with either 2-3 small ornaments or tinsel/garland. If you use garland, cut off a strand 1 – 2 ft long. Depending on the size of your wine glass, you can use more or less.

For any of these options, you can leave the glass standing like you would normally place a wine glass or flip it over so the bottom of the glass creates a pedestal.

If going the pedestal route, leave it bare or top with a small – medium sized candle (see photos).

When arranging, alternate 2 – 3 of your decked out wine glasses with tall candles to create an elegant tablescape. You can also alternate with small poinsettias or other flower arrangements.

Seriously, how easy was that?! As you’ll find out, it makes an impressive, expensive looking spread. People will ooh and ahh at how elegant your table looks.

Make sure you really talk it up like it took a long time, we won’t tell them your little secret…
